Rompecabezas

Rompecabezas does not have anything to do with head banging music that you listened to in high school. Rompecabezas can be any type of puzzle or riddle, but most commonly used to indicate a jigsaw puzzle.

    I am a student of spanish and have been fond of this word ever since I first came across it, maybe because that is what I feel about certain concepts of grammar. For example, deciding whether to use the preterite or the imperfect past tense is, at times, a rompecabezas.
