Y por si eso fuera poco

» by in: Idiomatic

You will sometimes see “y por si eso fuera poco” towards the bottom of advertisements. It means “and if that were not enough.”

I have seen it before, but because I recently was trying to explain to someone what it meant, I guess I am more sensitive to noticing it. I have seen it quite a bit in the last couple of weeks. I heard someone saying it earlier this week.

We say it in English too, but because it is almost word for word the same in English and Spanish, it strikes me as a funny phrase.

Why is this phrase written towards the bottom of advertisements?

Good question. I never explained it.

After they give you all the possible reasons to buy their product they are trying to entice you with “just one more thing.” As if all the reasons to purchase were not already enough, they want to grab your attention with something else.
